OP=OP=Open
OP = OP = Open
‘OP=OP’ is the second exhibition held at moezeum. It aims to expose the economy of exhaustion through ongoing practices of extraction, the manufacturing of scarcity, and the commodification of culture; where land, natural resources and humans alike are consumed towards annihilation. Here, exhaustion is not just a metaphorical or psychological consequence. It is structural, imposed, and weaponized by systems of domination. In this economy, the consumer becomes consumed, and death is modelled into capital.
The exhibition presents 7 artworks made by artists from DR Congo, Egypt, Germany, Lebanon, Mexico, Palestine, and The Netherlands which expose different ways where exhaustion in the broadest sense is used as a tool and method of colonial power and capitalist systems.
During the period of the exhibition, moezeum dedicates its space to knowledge and tactic-sharing sessions that present counter strategies of exhausting these economies of exhaustion through acts of disruption, refusal, and reclamation. In addition to the curated public programming, the space is open for programming suggested by the public. Acknowledging that our financial resources are limited, we won’t be able to pay the facilitators for these sessions. However, we also acknowledge that our resources are not only financial, we can provide space, publicity, context, and hosting care. We also have materials such as a printer, projector, sound system, and plenty of couches.
